Lucy Vartevanian

With a solid background in Tourism and Hotel Administration, Lucy Vartevanian moved to Armenia from the UK in 2005.

In 2009, after completing a CELTA course from London’s International House, she taught English at Cavendish House, a language centre in Yerevan. Later, from 2010 to 2013 she occupied the position of General Manager of the Employee Association at the US Embassy in Armenia. She was then offered the position of Festival Co-ordinator at Homeland Development Initiative Foundation (HDIF) to organising thematic festivals in many parts of Armenia such as Tatev, Talin and Vartenis. She travelled within the country and had the opportunity to discover the intricacies of the rural communities and used festivals as a tool to empower those communities and educate them on how to organize and promote festivals as a means to attract tourists and regain control of their community economic development.

She regularly volunteers with the Women’s Resource Centre Armenia to support other women in need especially victims of domestic violence.
